Our Marketing and Communications committee are responsible for planning and organising all activities necessary to make others aware of our activities – audience, new members, media organisations, advertisers, sponsors, professional musicians, event organisers, and many more. This page gives information about some of these activities.
But this is not something that should be done just by a small committee – this is something we can all help with: as the saying goes, the best publicity is by word of mouth! Please contact Joy Baggs if you can help with these activities (see the Contacts page).
There are many ways to publicise our activities, not just our concerts but also open rehearsals and a range of social activities. We produce posters, advertise in print magazines and online locations, maintain a presence on social media, seek to get articles and reviews in the press, and spread the word on radio channels.
BCS is on Facebook;
Posters & Advertising
We produce posters to advertise each of our concerts. See the Posters page for copies of past posters.
BCS aims to support other relevant charities. At our Christmas concerts we organise a retiring collection, and through the generosity of our audience are able to support a number of good causes. If you know of any local charities who we could support, please speak to any member.
Through each season we organise a range of fundraising activities – these provide a key part of our annual income.
Once a month during the break in our weekly rehearsal, we hold a fundraising table – come and find your next book, or some produce or plants!
Each summer at the Billingshurst Show we have a BCS tent – a great way to maintain visibility of our activities, to encourage new members, and to participate in the local community.
BCS now has links to two additional schemes which help to raise funds for the choir;
Utility Warehouse – if you sign up to receive utility services through Utility Warehouse, while referencing BCS, then we will receive a small percentage of your bills (from UW, not you)
Amazon Smile – if you log in to Amazon through a particular page linked to BCS, then you continue to shop online as normal, but we will receive a small percentage of your purchase value (from Amazon, not you)
